Special Education Assistant
Greenwood School District 50 – 2025‑2026 School Year
Greenwood School District 50 is seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Assistants to support students and teachers in creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities- Assist the classroom teacher and provide direct support to students as outlined in their IEPs
- Supervise and assist assigned students throughout the school day, including during transitions, meals, and classroom activities
- Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times
- Participate in training and professional development as assigned
- Build supportive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Sixty (60) semester hours of post‑secondary coursework, an associate’s degree, or successful completion of the Para Pro Assessment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to support students with patience, empathy, and consistency
- Physical ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. and assist with student mobility as needed
- 180 days per year, 7.5 hours per day
- Salary determined by the district’s Classified Salary Schedule
