Position: Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Hanahan, South Carolina

Job Description

Make a meaningful impact on students’ lives as an Itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a dynamic school environment near Hanahan, SC. This contract opportunity offers you the chance to support and empower visually impaired learners across multiple school locations, working collaboratively as part of an educational team dedicated to inclusive learning and student success.

You’ll work a consistent 35-hour workweek, providing specialized instruction and resources to ensure that each student has access to the curriculum and the support they need to thrive. Your expertise and guidance will play a vital role throughout the remainder of the current academic year and across several school years through June 2027.

Qualifications and Desired

Experience:

  • Valid South Carolina teaching certificate with Visually Impaired (VI) endorsement required
  • Experience supporting students with visual impairments in educational settings preferred
  • Ability to adapt curriculum materials and utilize assistive technologies to meet diverse student needs
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to liaise with teachers, families, and support staff
  • Willingness to travel between multiple school sites as needed

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and consultation for students with visual impairments in various school settings
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service personnel to adapt lessons and materials
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) development
  • Provide resources, training, and guidance to staff and families for effective student support
  • Track student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
