Special Needs / Learning Disabilities, Special Education Teacher
Plans and provides a program of Independent Living Skills for students at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind.
Must posses a Bachelor's Degree preferably in Education or closely related field. Also requires experience providing instruction and teaching of special needs students. This position may require communication modalities dependent upon employment placement.
Must have the ability to plan and implement programs to meet students needs. Must be able to motivate students to move towards independence in academic, habilitative, and communication skills. Be able to provide academic suppport in all subject areas at a variety of grade levels. Creativity and initiative are essential skills for performing this job successfully. The assignment of students may include deaf, blind, or sensory multi-disabled.
Specific success criteria will be based on student accomplishment of curriculum goals and objectives.
If selected for an interview you must provide verification of your highest level of education (i.e., copy of BA Degree, high school diploma, college transcripts) and if applicable, licensure and/or certification (i.e., nursing licensure, teacher licensure, bus driving certification).
