The Library Assistant-programming position will create and carry out programming for the Dillon County Library System
- Dillon Branch. Under the supervision of the programming team will carry out programming and perform related work as required.
- Preferred Public Library experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. College Degree preferred but not required.
- Valid Driver’s license in the State of South Carolina
- Pre-employment drug testing is required
- The Library Assistant-Programming
- Will create new and innovating programming, under the general supervision of Programming Team, assist in the operation and supervision of library branch and perform related work required. - Assist in every day operations of library
- Tracks supplies and material and reports to branch manager when they need to be ordered
- May train and assign work to volunteers
- Will be trained and will work circulation desk when not performing programming duties
- Work with Library Director on projects to promote and engage community in programs and events including but not limited to creating social media post, posters, flyers, press releases, etc…
- May facilitate programs or organize events independently, but will report all events to the programming team for final approval.
- Perform circulation desk duties including but not limited to answering phones, assisting patrons, creating library cards, checking in and out, placing holds, collecting fines, sending out ILL, faxing/copying among responsibilities related to the circulation desk.
- Assist patrons with basic reference and research
- Aid patrons with locating material in-house and online
- Perform custodial duties as necessary
- Maintain public safety and security by enforcing the library’s code of conduct, and internet policy.
- Conduct programming and outreach
- Preferred Public Library experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. College Degree preferred but not required.
- Valid Driver’s license in the State of South Carolina
- Pre-employment drug testing is required
- Monday-Friday- 9:30am-6:00pm
- Saturday- 8:30pm-1:00pm
- Will have to work at least one weekend a month, but may be required to work more.
