Process Engineer

Sandvik Coromant in Westminster, SC is looking for a Process Engineer.

Role Summary

A Sandvik Coromant Process Engineer plays a key role in improving the quality of delivered Insert cutting tools by coordinating machinery investments, implementing new production technologies, and supporting the achievement of key performance indicators within the Inserts Production Plant. As a Process Engineer supporting chemical vapor deposition (CVD) coating, responsibilities include developing and optimizing process formulations, as well as defining methods and controls that ensure compliance with quality standards.

The role involves evaluating existing production processes and recommending improvements to working methods and operational procedures to reduce risk, cost, and waste while enhancing quality, productivity, and safety. Additional responsibilities include recommending and implementing process improvements, modifications, or additions; reviewing process requirements for compatibility to determine cost and schedule impacts; and collecting and analyzing process data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

This position also contributes to Sustainability initiatives and Digital Transformation 4.0 by exploring, evaluating, and leading the implementation of new technologies that support engineering and production processes. The Process Engineer will collaborate closely with the local Westminster team as well as global Insert Production and R&D teams. The role works in partnership with upstream and downstream operations, including the local process engineering team, to provide feedback and support strategic improvements.

Through collaboration with suppliers, the engineer helps ensure the quality and availability of raw materials. By spending time on the shop floor and in laboratory environments, the engineer develops strong process knowledge and directly supports operators in areas such as 5S, continuous improvement, safety, and technical training. This position also serves as a contributing member and leader across safety, continuous improvement, HAZMAT, and cross-functional teams, while supporting capital projects focused on sustainability, strategic improvements, and ongoing development within the Inserts Plant and the Westminster site.
