Remanufacturing Engineering Manager

Our client, based in Columbia, SC, is seeking an experienced Remanufacturing Engineering Manager to lead engineering activities that support high‑quality, cost‑efficient remanufacturing of complex automotive components. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technical leader who can bridge engineering, operations, and quality while driving continuous improvement across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians supporting remanufacturing of diesel fuel system components
  • Develop and execute the engineering strategy, focusing on process optimization, cost reduction, and sustainability
  • Drive innovation in remanufacturing methods, automation, and best practices
  • Oversee process design, validation, documentation, and standardized work
  • Ensure processes meet OEM, customer, and quality system requirements
  • Support teardown analysis, failure investigation, and root‑cause problem solving
  • Partner with production to resolve technical issues impacting quality or throughput
  • Lead cost‑reduction, reuse, and salvage initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF standards; develop PFMEAs, control plans, and risk assessments
  • Manage capital projects, process improvements, KPIs, and new product introductions
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
  • 10+ years in automotive manufacturing, including leadership experience
  • Strong background in remanufacturing, reverse engineering, or rebuild operations
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement principles
  • Experience in process validation, equipment/tooling, and failure analysis
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills
  • Proficiency with CAD, ERP, and data analysis tools
