Plant Engineer

Plant Engineer – Sotera Health

Location:

East Coast, primarily supporting approximately three Ethylene Oxide (EO) sterilization plants. Travel within the region up to 25% of time is required.

• Identify and correct unsafe work conditions or practices.
• Design, install, and commission projects.
• Execute delivery for small‑complexity projects (maintenance, continuous improvement, or regionally coordinated projects).
• Ensure safety and compliance for facility, equipment, and emission control systems.
• Evaluate and monitor critical facility equipment performance and recommend corrective/preventative actions using CMMS (EAM), ECAT, ESPED, Power BI, and other statistical analysis tools.
• Provide troubleshooting assistance for critical plant equipment.
• Support site maintenance/engineering shutdowns.
• Participate in internal and external audits and assessments.
• Ensure proper use of the Change Control process.
• Develop technical documentation such as Installation/Operational Qualifications, Test Plans, Functional Specifications, and User Requirements.
• Perform calculations to support project design or equipment needs, and challenge third‑party technical designs.
• Represent Global Engineering, drive continuous improvement, and support technical training of site staff.
• Maintain and improve knowledge of facility, equipment, and systems for business progression.
• Manage small and medium site or corporate projects.
• Assist project managers with special projects as directed by Global Engineering.
• Maintain 24‑hour on‑call status.

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering; candidates with Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering degrees preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience in a process environment with hands‑on involvement.
• Solid mechanical and electrical engineering background.
• Familiarity with Building and NFPA codes (highly beneficial).
• Knowledge of control system architecture, functionality, and operations (desired).
• Comfort performing in a highly matrixed organization and supporting field activities.
• Proficiency in mathematical calculations and complex data analysis.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop project scope, schedule, budget, and manage priorities.
• Experience in a regulated industry (strong plus).
• Engineering ambassador.
