Job Description Summary
The Wind Turbine Controls Technical Leader is responsible for the turbine control software for various systems and components comprising a wind turbine. In this role you will develop products, solutions, and technology for wind turbine and farm‑level control components, execute business‑critical new product introductions, drive cost‑out competitiveness, and develop technology to increase AEP and ensure world‑class performance.
Roles and Responsibilities- Lead and support a team of controls engineers focused on application software development from requirements to production release and post‑release support.
- Set the technical vision for state‑of‑the‑art software solutions.
- Design, code, test, debug, and document controls software.
- Lead Scrum ceremonies and remove impediments to team progress.
- Track and report on team progress, sprint velocity, and other key metrics.
- Review technical work to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
- Coordinate execution across the team to align with project goals and timelines.
- Align with the Wind Engineering teams on priorities and deliverables for turbine controls software.
- Engage with customers to drive success through fleet monitoring and issue resolution.
- Partner with stakeholders to deliver world‑class quality for core control software.
- Provide leadership with high integrity and oversight of processes protecting intellectual property, export‐controlled information, and strategic technology.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a Renewable Energy emphasis.
- 6+ years of software development experience relevant to wind turbine control system design.
- Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink.
- Master of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to solve complex technical challenges.
- Strong wind turbine controls system expertise.
- Self‑starter who delivers results with minimal supervision.
- Experience with Agile methodology and leading sprint planning.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems clearly.
- Proven ability to work effectively with international teams in a fast‑paced environment.
- Pay range: $ – $ (subject to geographic differential).
