Process Safety Management Environmental Engineer
This role is critical in ensuring full compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, and other federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing high-risk operations involving ionizing radiation, flammable materials, and dust hazards.
You will act as a technical lead for all PSM and environmental initiatives and will partner with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
As a Process Safety Management Environmental Engineer your roles and responsibilities will include:
- Lead PSM programs including audits, hazard analysis (PHA/HAZOP), and compliance with OSHA and EPA requirements.
- Manage Risk Management Programs (RMP) and ensure timely, accurate environmental reporting and permit compliance.
- Provide expert technical review for process changes, capital projects, and new product introductions.
- Serve as site Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and liaison to local emergency services.
- Conduct root cause analyses for high-severity incidents and lead internal/external audits.
- Support corporate and site leadership in fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and operational excellence.
- Ensure environmental permits (e.g., Title V) are maintained and compliance standards are met.
- Act as point of contact with the Global Sterilization group and provide technical leadership on high hazard projects.
- Lead safety planning efforts for site expansions or capital improvements.

The ideal Process Safety Management Environmental Engineer would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related discipline. - Experience:
5–7 years in site-level EHS roles, with a strong focus on PSM and high-hazard operations. - Proven ability to lead PHAs, HAZOPs, and conduct technical evaluations of process changes.
- Experience in manufacturing, sterilization, lab, or warehouse environments.
- Proficient in OSHA, EPA, RMP, and PSM regulations, as well as preparing and submitting environmental permits.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are preferred.
