Duties, Responsibilities & Other

The Engineering Designer should have experience with both stormwater modeling and design/implementation of drainage and conveyance infrastructure. This role includes working with current team members to complete flood studies/no‑rise analyses, bridge hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater master planning, municipal and DOT drainage/culvert analysis and design, and 2D hydraulic analyses. Will design and prepare drawings for various civil, transportation, traffic, structural, mechanical, water/wastewater, and utility projects.

The Engineering Designer will work closely under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, contributing to engineering calculations, drafting, and coordination of multiple engineering disciplines. This role requires a knowledge of engineering principles, relevant design software such as Micro Station, AutoCAD, or Revit, as well as strong communication, technical writing skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Open to hiring in any KCI South Carolina office with hybrid/remote options.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completion of hydrologic and hydraulic studies (floodplain, drainage improvement, climate resiliency, dam breach).
  • Design and preparation of construction drawings for various water resources projects. Projects include: drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, restoration.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Micro Station and/or AutoCAD, HEC‑RAS, ArcGIS required. Civil3D, InRoads, and/or Open Roads experience preferred.
  • Assist in the development of multiple projects and plans. These duties will be performed under the supervision of a project engineer or project manager.
