The Sr. Mechanical Engineer (
Switchboards, Switchgear
) is responsible for engineering customer orders including detailed review of layout and application of equipment, component layout and modeling using 3D cad software, and supports various phases of order management from initial engineering review thru production shipment.

In this function you will:
  • Review and validate all switchboard order documentation from the Electrical COE team, including outline drawings, unit schedules, wiring diagrams, Bid Man quick prints, and AP requisitions.
  • Maintain and update Bid Man files with accurate cover and door dimensions in alignment with current design standards.
  • Cross-check Bill of Materials (BOM) in Bid Man against design standards for Engineer-to-Order (ETO) switchboard orders.
  • Finalize BOM in DA Mechanical and ensure seamless transfer to the ERP system for production planning.
  • Generate comprehensive Manufacturing Information (MI) packages using Bid Manager, AutoCAD, and Plant Order Manager.
  • Design custom fabricated components (i.e. Bus bar, doors, covers etc.) using AutoCAD and 3D modeling tools (e.g., Autodesk Inventor), ensuring proper routing to the designated assembly teams.
  • Create final BOM from 3D models and release models and drawings in Enovia.
  • Release final drawing package through Plant Order Manager.
  • Engage with customers, channel partners, Field Sales, and Eaton Care through plant visits, training sessions, and customer-facing events.
  • Contribute to product line innovation by recommending enhancements to design standards and pick tables.
  • Provide hands-on support to assembly teams in resolving process inefficiencies and quality issues.
  • Assist satellite plants with design reviews and successful product implementation.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to boost productivity and ensure high-quality output.

Ensure all products meet applicable national and local electrical codes and standards, including UL, NEC, NEMA, and OSHPD
