Our firm is partnering with a growing, well-established company in the landscaping and construction services space to identify a Director of Finance. This is a key leadership opportunity with a clear path to evolve into a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position.
This role is ideal for a hands‑on financial leader who thrives in operational environments and has experience supporting asset‑heavy, project‑based businesses.
Position SummaryThe Director of Finance will oversee the company’s financial operations while serving as a strategic partner to executive leadership. This individual will play a critical role in driving financial performance, managing assets, and building scalable processes to support continued growth.
Core Responsibilities Strategic Financial Leadership- Partner with executive leadership to guide financial strategy and long-term planning
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling initiatives
- Provide insights on profitability, growth opportunities, and risk management
- Direct accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements and performance analysis
- Enhance systems, reporting tools, and operational efficiencies
- Oversee management of capital assets including fleet, equipment, and property
- Develop strategies to improve asset utilization and return on investment
- Support capital planning, acquisitions, and financing decisions
- Monitor job costing, project margins, and key operational KPIs
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations to improve financial outcomes
- Drive accountability and cost control across the organization
- Lead and develop the finance function
- Position the department for scalability as the company grows
- Prepare to transition into a CFO role over time
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
Strong analytical, forecasting, and financial modeling capabilities - Experience working closely with executive leadership
- Background in landscaping, construction, or similar asset-intensive industries
- Experience with job costing and project-based financials
- CPA, CMA, or MBA
- Familiarity with fleet and asset management
