Sumter, SC, 29153 - United States Job Type: Contractor About the Role Join BD's dynamic Supply Chain organization as a Support 1, Supply Chain Intern and accelerate your professional development in a high-impact, collaborative environment. This internship offers motivated students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in procurement operations and supplier management while contributing to real business outcomes. Work directly with procurement leaders, learn industry best practices, and build core skills that will set you apart in the field of supply chain management.
Responsibilities
- Track and manage purchase orders, including confirmations and delivery status
- Communicate with suppliers to resolve past-due orders and shortages
- Maintain and update procurement trackers and reports for open POs, shortages, and supplier follow-ups
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports analyzing on-time delivery, lead times, and supply risks
- Validate and cleanse supplier and material master data for accuracy in lead times, pricing, and order quantities
- Analyze inventory and material flows to identify shortages and excesses
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Planning, Warehouse, Quality, and Finance to resolve supply and invoice issues
- Drive process improvement by digitizing manual processes, standardizing reports, and documenting procedures
- Support supplier performance tracking and internal review preparation
- Provide general administrative and analytical support to the procurement team Required Skills and Experience
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Basic understanding of supply chain and procurement concepts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a structured and organized way
- Internship or project work in supply chain or data analysis (preferred but not required) Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP a plus)
- Experience with process improvement and Lean principles
- Knowledge of digital tools such as Share Point
- Exposure to standardized reporting and documentation (SOPs) Benefits
