Contracts & Tendering Specialist (Fixed Term)
Responsibilities:
- Execute sourcing events (RFQ/RFP) focus on speed, commercial rigor, and operational fit.
- Develop scopes of work with project management team.
- Lead commercial negotiations balancing cost, risk, and schedule.
- Draft, administer, and manage contracts including service, hire, and supply agreements.
- Act as primary on‑site commercial interface for contractors, addressing day‑to‑day issues, variations, and claims.
- Manage contractor performance against safety, cost, and delivery KPIs.
- Ensure critical spares, consumables, and services are procured to prevent construction disruptions.
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks impacting schedules.
- Manage contract variations, change orders, and dispute resolution timely and commercially sound.
- Maintain accurate contract records within company systems.
- Support site budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement in contract processes, supplier performance, and cost efficiency.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years procurement and contracts experience, preference mining/industrial.
- Proven contract management in fast‑paced, project‑based environment.
- Strong understanding of mining services, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Experience with contract models: schedule of rates, unit pricing, service‑based contracts.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Pronto).
- Strong commercial and negotiation capability in high‑pressure situations.
- Ability to balance operational urgency with commercial discipline.
- Effective stakeholder engagement from supervisors to senior leadership.
- Practical problem‑solving mindset, bias for action.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in continuously changing environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see.
- Work shift work with 12‑hour shifts.
- Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds during workday.
- Work in surface mine plant setting, may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
- Personal protective equipment required: hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator, rubber steel‑toe boots, protective clothing, gloves.
