PositionDescription
Extrusion Techs are responsible for all aspects of production from start to finish. This includes maintaining a clean and safe operating environment, preparing for changeovers, testing product quality, efficiently operating machines, planning materials for production, and reporting safety, machine, or quality concerns to the appropriate person. Compensation is based on skill, and there are advancement opportunities inside or outside the Production Department.
WorkSchedule
This position works 12-hour shifts, from 7pm–7am, on a 2-2-3 schedule. Hours per week are 36 hours one week and 48 hours the following week. Additional overtime may be required as necessary for team success.
Safety- Understand and follow all safety procedures and policies.
- Follow all company safety rules and procedures.
- Immediately report any safety concerns to the appropriate individual.
- Set up and operate extrusion lines to produce high-quality products.
- Review order specifications to ensure correct packaging supplies and raw materials are available to meet customer requirements.
- Observe finished film and take corrective action to prevent sub-standard products.
- Remove and package finished rolls from machines.
- Monitor equipment and, under the Lead Operator’s supervision, perform routine maintenance.
- Complete daily production paperwork and troubleshoot stoppages and breakdowns.
- Under the Lead Operator’s direction, train team members on correct operating procedures, safety, and quality policy procedures.
- Learn all equipment to be able to make adjustments when needed.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices as outlined by Pregis Films.
- Perform all aspects of the position to the highest quality.
- Report any non-conformance to Supervisor immediately.
- Know all quality standards and ask the supervisor if unsure before continuing.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2–5 years of manufacturing experience in a production environment.
- Knowledge of resins and their properties preferred.
- Extrusion, W&H Film lines experience preferred.
- Able to work any 12-hour shift.
- Inside work 90%, outside work 10%.
- Working temperatures 40–90F.
- Exposure to noise, moving machinery/equipment/vehicles, and high places/platforms.
- Potential exposure to vibration, electrical hazards, and confined/cramped spaces.
- Required PPE: safety glasses, earplugs, safety-toe shoes, beard/hair nets, and cut gloves.
- Constant standing/walking; frequent sitting, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, bending; frequent lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying of 30–50 lbs for up to 100 feet; frequent reaching; stair climbing; typing/keyboard use; repetitive hand/wrist/finger movements; good visual acuity and color/depth perception; good reading and writing abilities.
