Job Description Summary
The Biomedical Technician will respond to service calls within a hospital or healthcare system in Charleston, SC. They will evaluate, diagnose, and perform repair and planned maintenance on biomedical equipment, providing service excellence to drive customer satisfaction. This position is located at our client site in Charleston, SC.
Essential Responsibilities- Evaluate customer biomedical equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs, and perform planned maintenance and safety/environmental inspections to support customers’ ability to deliver healthcare.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and hospital protocols to ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are met, and capture documentation of all work performed.
- Maintain strong relationships and frequent communications with customers to ensure resolution, proper follow-up, and ongoing customer satisfaction.
- Maintain proper care of tools and test equipment to ensure calibration and the ability to deliver timely and accurate repairs/maintenance to customers.
- Identify and report all customer quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Quality Organization.
- Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, military education, participant in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program; or High School Diploma/GED with 2+ years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment.
- Experience with electronic digital circuitry and electro‑mechanical devices.
- Experience interpreting schematic diagrams.
- Ability to be available after‑hours and/or work a rotating on‑call schedule, including weekends.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; sponsorship for employment visas is not offered.
- Must comply with GEHC's standard background check, including a post‑offer drug test, and with all customer access policies, including immunization proof and additional testing as required.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to reach above and below shoulder level, flex/extend the neck, and possess good hand and finger dexterity.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job may include color, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
