Position OverviewAs an Associate Director Manufacturing your roles and responsibilities will include:
The client is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Manufacturing to lead and optimize manufacturing operations while driving a culture centered on safety, quality, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, developing high-performing teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering business results through Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strategic manufacturing leader with extensive experience managing large-scale manufacturing operations in a regulated environment and a proven ability to improve productivity, reduce costs, and develop engaged teams.
- Lead, develop, and monitor manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives.
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance culture that encourages employee engagement, accountability, recognition, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by driving improvements in process safety, ergonomics, equipment reliability, and facility safety.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, CFR, ISO, OSHA, and internal quality management systems.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Operational Excellence initiatives to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reduce waste, increase asset reliability, and lower manufacturing costs.
- Develop annual operating budgets, establish departmental goals, monitor financial performance, and ensure achievement of operational objectives.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Human Resources, R&D, Materials, and other cross-functional teams to execute strategic initiatives and improve business performance.
- Mentor, coach, and develop leaders while building organizational capability and succession plans.
- Drive manufacturing process improvements through data-driven decision-making and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Support new product introductions, capital projects, and process optimization initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with all quality, regulatory, and operational requirements.
Most importantly, you need to be a passionate Associate Director Manufacturing who enjoys his work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. The ideal Associate Director Manufacturing would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of manufacturing experience.
- At least 5 years of manufacturing or operations management experience.
- Minimum 5 years of cross-functional leadership experience in Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Continuous Improvement, Finance, or a related function.
- Demonstrated experience leading large manufacturing teams in a high-volume production environment.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, and Operational Excellence methodologies.
- Experience managing departmental budgets and understanding manufacturing financial metrics, including P&L.
- Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with in medical device, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of high-speed automated manufacturing processes.
- Experience with high-cavity injection molding, plastics manufacturing, rubber compounding, or part forming.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing automation, equipment reliability, and preventive maintenance programs.
