-based manufacturer and distributor of fiber and foam-filled pillows, along with a wide range of bedding and home textiles. As a family founded business, it specializes in producing comforters, mattress pads, mattress toppers, and pillow protectors in multiple locations.
We are looking for someone with a manufacturing / Plant Manager background to work as a change agent, guiding an existing team to one of manufacturing excellence for one of the company’s pillow production plants located in South Carolina. This facility is approximately 100K square feet with 135 employees (5 salaried and 130 hourly), producing approximately 7M units annually. This is a contract / consulting role (estimating 90-180 days) and will include competitive compensation as well as expense coverage (hotel, travel, etc.)
Looking for an operational leader to develop a Plant Manager and underperforming plant to one of manufacturing excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and improvement strategy implementation based on data/KPI’s addressing areas of concern/improvement with corrective and preventive action plans
- High-Vis Presence:
Spends significant time on the plant floor, building direct accountability and trust - Change Agent:
Challenges status-quo processes, aligns team around clear recovery milestones - Work with existing team (with a focus on the Plant Manager) to make improvements and implement process/procedure, training, etc. throughout all relevant areas of the plant
- Operational excellence and continuous improvement
- Manufacturing team and supervisor development
- P&L performance, productivity, and cost management
- 10+ years of progressive industrial, manufacturing, or operations leadership
- 7+ years managing operations
- Experience leading turnaround, transformation, or performance improvement initiatives
- Strong financial and operational acumen
- Cut/sew experience in apparel, home, or other relevant manufacturing
- Warehouse / distribution experience, understanding of shipping to major retailers
- LEAN Six Sigma experience
