Job SummaryLJS Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Inventory & Purchasing Assistant to join our team. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate inventory levels, supporting production needs, and assisting with purchasing and material flow throughout the facility.
The Inventory & Purchasing Assistant will analyze inventory usage and stock levels to help determine appropriate quantities to keep on hand, maintain systems for accurately tracking inventory, and identify opportunities to reduce excess inventory and carrying costs. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform daily cycle counts and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate inventory quantities and transactions in Quick Books.
- Identify and resolve negative inventory balances, false positives, and other inventory discrepancies on a daily basis.
- Monitor stock levels to ensure production has the materials and components needed to operate efficiently.
- Manage and maintain plant Kanban inventory systems.
- Assist with and manage steel procurement and inventory requirements.
- Review part usage and ensure accurate usage values are assigned to inventory items.
- Coordinate with material handlers to ensure raw materials are delivered to production as needed.
- Receive work-in-process (WIP) and stock inventory into Quick Books as required.
- Manage the inventory and logistics of parts being transported to and from outside galvanizing operations.
- Purchase assigned materials, components, and supplies while maintaining appropriate stock levels.
- Analyze inventory trends and usage to help optimize purchasing decisions and reduce excess inventory.
- Work closely with production, purchasing, and other departments to resolve inventory and material availability issues.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments.
- Familiarity with steel gauges and common steel materials.
- Knowledge of hardware terminology and components.
- Understanding of inventory terminology, transactions, and inventory control practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate across multiple departments.
- Experience with Quick Books is a plus.
- Previous experience in inventory control, purchasing, material planning, or a manufacturing environment is preferred.
