Job Description & How to Apply Below

The National Mental Health Corps (NMHC) is a national mental health workforce development program that partners with universities, school districts, health care systems, and community-based organizations to expand access to mental health education, prevention, and support services. NMHC Ameri Corps Volunteers serve within their communities to strengthen local capacity and support the implementation of evidence-based and evidence-informed mental health programming.

At Bridges of Hope, NMHC Volunteers support efforts to increase access to grief-informed care and mental health resources for children, youth, and families impacted by grief, trauma, and loss. Through outreach, education, and direct program support, volunteers help create spaces where individuals can build coping skills, develop resilience, and connect with supportive resources.

During their service term, Ameri Corps Volunteers receive training in mental health interventions such as Mental Health First Aid and QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) suicide prevention training. Volunteers use these skills to assist with community education, support groups, school-based programming, resource coordination, and outreach initiatives. Through their service with Bridges of Hope, members help strengthen community support systems and expand access to compassionate, community-based mental health and grief support services across South Carolina.
