This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center, 2100 Charlie Hall Blvd Charleston, SC 29414.

Under general supervision, the Nurse Practitioner provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment to patients of the Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center. Evaluates and treats psychiatric disorders and provides psychiatric nursing/monitoring when needed. Consults with and advises local physicians, community caregivers, and relatives in the care and treatment of clients with mental illness.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat psychiatric disorders and provide psychiatric nursing/monitoring and medications as needed.
  • Consult with and advise local physicians, CDMHC treatment teams, community caregivers and relatives to provide comprehensive collaborative care.
  • Participate in monthly physician meetings and supervision, quarterly nursing meetings, and other meetings germane to the administration of clinical duties.
  • Comply with all applicable BHDD Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CDMHC policies, procedures and regulations and all Federal and State laws as well as attend all trainings classified mandatory by Federal and State regulations.
  • Prepare necessary paperwork related to patient records to comply with current local and state regulations. Complete required MIS data.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing at the master's level or doctoral level acceptable to the Board to include clinical experience.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse and hold official recognition as Nurse Practitioner by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Have advanced experience and knowledge of psychiatric illness/symptoms and psychotropic medications.
  • Must hold a nursing license through the SC Board of Nursing no later than 30 days after initial hire date.
  • Must have a serviceable personal vehicle and a valid South Carolina driver's license.
Post–Hire Requirements
  • A master's degree in nursing and certification from the SC Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Must have advanced experience/knowledge of psychiatric illness/symptoms and psychotropic medications.
  • The ability to function in a multi-disciplinary team.
