About the Position
Colonial Healthcare, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in Sumter, SC.

PrimaryResponsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for a wide range of urgent medical conditions such as sore throat, respiratory illness, rashes and skin infections, sprains and strains, fracture care, cuts, burns, and others.
- Perform minor procedures and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., X‑rays, EKGs, labs, CT scans, ultrasound, MRI, echocardiogram, PFT, urodynamic tests, and more).
- Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in provision of continuity of care. Communicate with patients regarding testing results, follow‑up care, and additional information.
- Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. Refer patients to specialists and to relevant patient‑care components as appropriate.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
- Follow established policies, procedures, objectives, and recommended referral practices. Participate in facility in‑services, required training, recruiting, required staff meetings, and other clinic operations procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold clinical best practices.
- Open 7 days per week.
- Mon‑Fri 7:30 am‑6:00 pm;
Sat‑Sun 7:30 am‑5:00 pm. - Providers are required to work 13 shifts per month.
- Clinician will work rotating shifts between Sumter and Manning, South Carolina. Requires working in a clinical setting, moderate noise level, potential exposure to infectious diseases and blood‑borne pathogens, travel to other sites, ability to stand and sit for hours, manual dexterity, and ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Urgent care providers have an opportunity to work additional shifts for a predetermined stipend amount and/or work in the primary care setting.

- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner from an accredited program.
- Active South Carolina license (or ability to obtain prior to start).
- Active DEA license with no restrictions.
- Ability to obtain ACLS and BLS certification within 90 days of employment.
- Experience with EMR systems.
- Strong knowledge of urgent care protocols and procedures.
- Familiarity with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and infection control standards.
Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $104,500 to $156,000. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors, including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
