The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional surgical nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and collaborating with the surgical team.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide assistance in emergency procedures as well as elective and scheduled cases.
• Work alongside surgical teams to ensure patients receive the best possible care.
• Serve as a liaison between the surgical team and patients' families.
• Organize supplies needed for patients.
• Assess patients before, during, and after surgery and maintain a sterile operating room.
• Perform count procedures to protect patients from unintended retained foreign objects and intervene to ensure correct surgical site, side, and level.
• Perform interventions throughout the surgical procedure to maintain the status of the patient’s systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid‑base balances at or above baseline levels.
• Administer medications in accordance with physician orders.
• Actively involve patient or designated support person in decisions affecting their postoperative plan of care and rehabilitation process.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing or higher.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice and/or hold an active Compact/Multi‑State RN license.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification.
• Minimum of 1 year of previous perioperative nursing experience.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
