Laboratory Team Leader
The Laboratory Team Leader will lead laboratory personnel in daily activities providing coaching and feedback to team members. The Laboratory Team Leader provides laboratory support for internal business units and external client pre‑commercial and commercial processes and projects.
Position SummaryShift: Monday – Friday working hours.
This 100% on‑site position is located at the Greenville, N.C. facility.
The facility specializes in end‑to‑end turn‑key solutions for oral solid dosage forms. It offers integrated formulation development, analytical services, commercial manufacturing, and packaging.
To support the facility, the Laboratory Team Leader will lead analytical teams in method development, validation, and testing for oral solid dosage forms, ensuring high‑quality data generation, regulatory compliance, and efficient project execution across commercial and pre‑commercial manufacturing and packaging operations.
The Role- Supervise, guide, and oversee learning and development needs for a team of approximately 3 to 6 scientists and laboratory personnel.
- Responsible for development and performance management of direct reports, including training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Lead the development of a climate of quality and safety within the team by identifying and monitoring quality and safety standards.
- Ensure all work is performed and documented according to approved SOPs, in general compliance with cGMPs, and in a timely manner consistent with agreed schedules.
- Maintain proficiency in process and data review within the respective scientific field of operation, troubleshoot instrument, method, and technique‑related issues.
- Project manage and serve as analytical representative for internal and external clients, both commercial and pre‑commercial, and as required, CMOs.
- Author and review analytical procedures, validation documents, and portions of regulatory submissions for site pre‑commercial and commercial projects relating to analytical.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, or equivalent science degree with 9 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry.
- BS or BA degree in a science‑related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences) with 8 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry.
- Master’s degree in a science‑related field with 6 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry.
- PhD in a science‑related field with 4 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry.
- Must be able to lift 10–50 lbs unassisted.
- Majority of the work day involves standing, walking, lifting, pulling, and pushing.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
- Some exposure to hazardous chemicals and other active chemical ingredients.
- Requires effective use of speech, vision, and hearing.
