Position SummaryThe SBU Field Quality Engineer will influence business bottom‑line results by leading, facilitating, and reporting customer and field‑related quality activities for each SBU platform. This new function bridges customer/field feedback with manufacturing/engineering teams to improve product performance and customer experience.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide field quality leadership across assigned products and drive cost of quality reduction.
- Prioritize improvement opportunities and track time‑to‑improvement for product growth teams.
- Conduct site visits, gather customer data, and supply responses to address equipment portfolio issues.
- Sustain communication strategies with field service technicians to resolve real issues via manufacturing and engineering changes.
- Develop and maintain a project pipeline with clear priorities to maximize customer benefit.
- Facilitate root‑cause analysis across functions, ensuring corrections improve component reliability.
- Identify training and application gaps contributing to poor customer experience.
- Communicate core quality improvement messaging and cultural changes throughout the business.
- Use tools such as Gemba, internal audits, warranty data, and traceability to evaluate field quality effectiveness.
- Review and improve quality test systems and procedures to meet intended use and customer expectations.
- Forecast and manage key metrics aligned with plant financials and product growth glide paths.
- Support supplier and reliability improvements in new product and project launch phases.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
- Professional certification preferred (CPM, APICS, Six Sigma, CQM, PE, etc.).
- At least 5 years of quality or engineering experience in design, manufacturing, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of APQP, DFMEA, PPAP, and advanced quality planning.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, visual management, and continuous improvement tools.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
- Proficiency in quality management systems, SPC, process capability, sampling techniques, and project management.
- Ability to travel up to 15%, with occasional higher peaks.
- Hands‑on, collaborative approach with a proactive change‑agent mindset.
Annual base salary range: $69,600.00 – $. Compensation determined by seniority, merit, location, and other factors. No incentive plan, sales commission, or additional compensation noted.
