Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking an Electrical Tester I. The position is M–Th, 3 pm–1 am.
The hourly rate is $26.00 per hour. The role is eligible for a variable incentive program.
Position OverviewThe Electrical Tester will verify correct wiring, components, program controllers, and conduct electrical testing of switchboard products and components, according to applicable test procedures and component literature, to ensure timely order fulfillment and meet Eaton’s quality standards.
Responsibilities- Test Switchboard & Panel board products on all lines per testing work instructions and governmental requirements, identifying non‑conformances.
- Use High‑Pot, continuity tester, trip test kits, test wagon, and other devices to perform electrical tests, ensuring switch and circuit breaker functionality.
- Verify that revisions to wiring on the production floor are incorporated into the product and documentation, and that previous revisions are destroyed.
- Ensure component literature and product documentation are provided with the job.
- Document non‑conformances to support quality records and continuous improvement; communicate issues to production staff and confirm required rework.
- Identify suspect product at all times to prevent unintended use.
- Serve as informal trainer for production personnel.
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Associate’s Degree in Electronics or Mechatronics (or equivalent military technical school diploma) OR minimum 1 year of experience in electrical testing.
- Minimum 1 year of experience wiring Switchboard or Power Distribution products.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. on a continuous basis without sponsorship.
- 3 years of experience performing electrical testing.
- BS in engineering.
- Strong verbal and written communication, persuasive, and analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, component functionality, and assembly processes.
- Knowledge of all assembled SWBD product designs, wiring, and applicable UL, NEC, regional utility codes and customer requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing documents, including wiring diagrams and test procedures.
- Competency in using multimeters, troubleshooting electronics, and following safety procedures.
- This position requires a minimum 2‑year commitment; eligibility to bid on other roles resets for two years unless approved.
- Lift at least 35 lbs; stand for extended periods; repetitive lifting, bending, and squatting.
Noise and dust are regular exposures.
