MC Quality Inspector - B Crew

Location:

Sumter, SC.

Responsibilities

Inspect and test Hi‑Pot switchboard products on all lines, following inspection work instructions and applicable governmental requirements to confirm proper function of switchboards and electrical components, identify non‑conformances, and ensure compliance with customer specification, safety and quality requirements. Document inspections on the applicable checklist. Use Hi‑Pot, continuity test, and component‑specific testing devices for electrical testing. Verify torqued connections with a torque wrench per inspection instructions.

Conduct electrical and mechanical tests per safety and training requirements and procedures. Examine and verify mating structures (all structures in a line‑up) as needed to ensure completion of the job and that field installation is problem‑free (e.g., splice plate dimensions, Kirk key coordination, etc.). Verify that any revisions released to the production floor regarding functionality and customer specifications are incorporated into the product, that all documentation reflects the current revision, and that previous revisions of documents are not used or discarded.

Process and update paperwork accurately (POM, test reports, etc.). Ensure that component literature and necessary product documentation are included with the job. Thoroughly document and communicate non‑conformances (critical quality records) and verify required rework to aid problem solving and continuous improvement. Communicate design errors to appropriate front‑end personnel for correction, obtain revisions, and verify required rework. Ensure that suspect product is identified as such at all times to prevent unintended use.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of the Sumter facility (50‑mile radius) will be considered. Switchboard experience including bus assembly or wiring. Working knowledge of Lean concepts. Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or Electronics. Knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, and component functionality.

Knowledge of assembled SWBD product designs (e.g., PRL‑C, PRL‑I, IFS, FDS, MF, etc.). Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Knowledge of applicable UL codes, NEC codes, regional utility codes, customer‑specific requirements. Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret manufacturing documents, including front view, MIs, Blow‑Thrus, Wiring Diagrams, component literature, engineering drawings, and testing procedures. Strong attention to detail, multi‑tasking ability, and capacity to work in a high‑pressure, high‑expectation environment.
