Laboratory Specialist II
We are seeking a research technician to conduct research in Dr. Jun Zhu’s laboratory on NIH-funded projects studying the mechanisms of HIV‑1 infection‑associated neurocognitive disorders. The successful candidate will perform cell culture and pharmacological assays to characterize the in vitro profile of the human vesicular monoamine transporter (VMAT2) and its mutants, and test compounds to identify optimized probe molecules using cell‑based systems expressing VMAT
2. Additional duties include maintaining laboratory instruments, following safety protocols, assisting with lab cleaning, and supporting other ongoing experiments. Candidates should be motivated to conduct neuropharmacology research and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical science or a related field.
- Experience in a research laboratory, preferably in cellular biology and pharmacology.
- Knowledge of cell culture, pharmacological assays, and laboratory safety.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
