Transportation Engineering Technician II

Job Responsibilities

• Perform inspection for moderate-level maintenance contracts on state roads in Pickens County, such as roadway mowing, vegetation or tree removal, street sweeping, and other tasks where field measurements for payment are required.
• Enter daily inspection data into the Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS).
• Gather data and create contracts for Pickens Maintenance, including on-call concrete, reflective pavement markings (RPMs), long line thermo, tree removal, brush management, lawn care, etc.
• Assist in conducting field inspections on complex contracts or permits requiring a firm understanding of technical aspects, including traffic control, concrete, asphalt, earthwork, environmental, and safety procedures.
• Assist in obtaining information necessary to prepare reports required for project development.
• Work during snow, ice, or inclement weather to support office operations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma and one (1) year of experience related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Physical demands: frequent bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to 50 lbs.; walking for extended periods; treading rough terrain; working in close proximity to motoring traffic; working in natural environmental hazards; occasional exposure to noise; occasional work outside of normal work schedules and weekends.
