Position: LAB TECHNICIAN I

Responsibilities

  • Conduct wet chemistry analysis of water and wastewater for physical and chemical parameters, including BOD, COD, TSS, ammonia, nitrogen, phosphorus, pH, turbidity, hardness, conductivity, chlorine, alkalinity, and fluoride.
  • Perform microbiological analysis using methods such as heterotrophic plate count, fecal coliform, total coliform, and other techniques.
  • Accurately prepare and file required forms, documents, and lab bench sheets; enter data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Use and operate various instrument software packages to perform required duties.
  • Perform tasks in strict adherence to regulatory guidelines, laboratory certification requirements, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Operate, calibrate, and perform general maintenance on lab equipment such as instruments, probes, meters, pumps, ovens, and incubators.
  • Follow good chemical hygiene practices; prepare standards, reagents, media, and solutions with proper tracking and labeling procedures.
  • Adhere to laboratory and analysis quality‑control procedures in compliance with the Laboratory Certification Program and Quality Assurance Plan; promptly notify management of deviations.
  • Assist with sample collection, preservation, and receiving, ensuring proper sampling techniques and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory expendables and assist in ordering supplies.
  • Maintain and wash laboratory glassware and other required materials; practice safe handling of chemicals and lab samples; dispose of waste in environmentally safe and approved ways.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Training and Experience

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field, or an Associate degree in the same fields, with one to two years of experience in a chemical or biological laboratory; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid driver's license.
