Monitoring Program Coordinator; EHM

The Beach Monitoring Program Coordinator oversees South Carolina's statewide Coastal Recreational Waters (Beach) Monitoring Program to protect public health and ensure compliance with state regulations and EPA requirements. The position serves as the central point of coordination, working with SCDES regional offices and federal, state, and local partners to implement monitoring requirements, evaluate results, manage public notifications, and maintain quality assurance documentation.

• Bachelor’s degree in natural or physical sciences or related technical field; or associate degree with 2 years environmental health experience; or high school diploma with 4 years environmental health
• Strong organizational and coordination skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and work with district offices and partner agencies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to prepare technical reports and presentations
• Valid driver's license required with routine in-state travel and occasional out-of-state travel; 10-year driving record compliant with state fleet guidelines
• Ability to perform field work independently in varying environmental conditions including rough terrain and carrying equipment
