Job Responsibilities
To perform duties designed to provide a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors by enforcing state laws, institution policy, rule and regulation on the campus of Orangeburg‑Calhoun Technical College. Patrol parking areas and ticket illegally parked vehicles. Enforce all parking and motor vehicle regulations. While on routine patrol, visually check parking areas, grounds and facilities with the specific intent of evaluating any existing and/or potential safety hazards.
Take necessary action within scope of authority to ensure the safety and protection of persons on campus. Investigate disturbances, accidents, etc., determine causes and participants, initiate the appropriate investigative action and the necessary reports. Patrol facilities to assist in preventing thefts, vandalism, etc. Provide traffic control and other security services to assist with visiting dignitaries. Respond to fire alarms or other emergency calls, disperse crowds and reroute spectators around disturbances or fires.
Keep records and make reports of all campus activities and testify in court and other legal proceedings. Perform related duties as required.
A high school diploma and two (2) years’ work experience in law enforcement.
Preferred QualificationsCertification by the Department of Public Safety in accordance with Section 23-6-430 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976, is mandatory within 1 year from employment in class.
Additional CommentsMust be able to complete a SLED background investigation for State Constable Commission.
