Sergeant - Front Gate BRR Security Front Gate, Columbia; RICHLAND

Responsibilities

• Administer operation of the Broad River complex main gate.
• Ensure control and security of the Broad River complex/area buildings, facilities & equipment, including access to BRC, Education Division, and surrounding grounds.
• Supervise and verify scheduled visitors and functions, ensuring only authorized personnel are permitted entry.
• Evaluate officers’ duty performance; instruct and counsel officers in required performance standards.
• Ensure subordinates maintain all training & certification requirements and receive additional training, including OJT as needed.

Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.

SCDC

Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and eighteen (18) months experience in correctional, security, military, or police work.
• A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for half of required experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
