Painter

Position Summary

Painter – responsible for applying decorative coatings, preparing surfaces, and maintaining residence hall surfaces. Works under supervisor. Essential personnel during inclement/hazardous weather.

Assists supervisor with the selection, preparation, and application of paint and decorative finishes to a variety of surfaces, including plaster, wood, sheetrock, and metal.

Prepares surfaces through stripping, sanding, and repairing prior to application.

• Apply decorative coating to multiple surfaces following procedures.
• Follow work management procedures.
• Prepare and apply patching, plaster, caulking, and other compounds as needed.
• Serve as essential personnel during inclement/hazardous weather and other emergencies.

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Valid driver’s license.

The University of South Carolina (USC), through the State of SC and Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA), offers temporary employees expected to work at least 30 hours per week health and life insurance, flexible spending accounts, and retirement programs.

Salary: $19.84 per hour.

Location:

Columbia, SC. Hours per week: 40.

Work schedule:

8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday – Friday with flexible availability as needed.
