Position: Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician III - Assistant Shop Foreman (61035170)

Job Responsibilities

Performs routine maintenance and general repairs to all DOT vehicles and equipment.

Performs routine maintenance and general repairs to all DOT vehicles and equipment.

Diagnoses and makes repairs to air brake systems.

Rebuilds and install engines, cylinder heads, transmissions and rear ends.

Replaces injectors, injector pumps, timing chains and belts, and distributors.

Overhauls starters, alternators, carburetors, and other serviceable components.

Makes repairs and/or replace all steering components in vehicles and equipment.

Uses an electric welder to make metal repairs to mowers, tractors, and other vehicles and/or equipment.

Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations, may include being available for extended working hours on 12-hour shifts.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

Two (2) years of work experience that involved the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Completion of one (1) academic year of a South Carolina High School Automotive Technology or Diesel Engine curriculum may substitute for six (6) months of directly-related experience. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.

Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulate objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. This position requires working in a large garage setting and may perform duties in an uncomfortable position for long periods of time. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
