Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC)
Location: South Carolina
Job Type: Part-time
Hours will vary and may include Saturday, Sunday, and USPS holidays with no guarantee of hours.
Applicants must have a valid state driver's license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger in the U.S. or its territories, possessions, or U.S. military installations worldwide.
Must be flexible with little to no lead time or advance notice of a schedule change.
If an employer-provided vehicle is not assigned, you may be required to provide a vehicle sufficient in size for delivery of mail. If you provide your own vehicle, additional compensation will be provided.
Must be able to deliver from the right-hand side of the vehicle.
You will perform work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions—including rain, sleet, ice, snow, cold, and heat—and may encounter animals and insects.
Responsibilities are physically demanding, requiring moderate to heavy lifting, carrying, prolonged standing, reaching, and walking. Routes may be 10-15 miles a day.
Mail security must be provided at all times.
Established safe work methods and procedures must be followed.
Key Responsibilities- Sort mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
- Receive and sign for accountable mail.
- Load mail in vehicle.
- Deliver mail to customers along a prescribed route and on a regular schedule.
