Your Mission

The Director of Environmental Services is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and performance of the environmental services department. This position ensures a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for residents, patients, staff, and visitors, in accordance with all applicable regulations, standards, and organizational policies. The director oversees housekeeping, laundry, and sanitation programs while ensuring high standards of cleanliness and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage environmental services operations, including housekeeping, laundry, professional floor care, sanitation and hazardous waste services.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and quality control programs to maintain regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, CDC, EPA, ADHS).
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of environmental services staff; provide coaching and professional development.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance.
  • Manage department budget, including labor, supplies, and equipment; identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Oversee inventory management and procurement of floor care equipment, cleaning and laundry supplies.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., nursing, facilities, infection control) to support operational goals and special projects to include timely and accurate oversight of set up and breakdown for applicable events by EVS staff.
  • Respond promptly to concerns or complaints from residents, families, or staff regarding environmental services.
  • Ensure the department follows proper infection prevention and control protocols, particularly during outbreaks or emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports for inspections, audits, and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in any facility emergencies including weekend on‑call if necessary.
  • Develop, implement and track goals for self and departmental employees on at a least a semi‑annual basis.
  • Use CSR report to monitor both the physical and financial condition of the facilities.
  • Prepare a written‑monthly report on the goals and financial status of the departments.
  • Monitor the time and attendance of all departmental personnel.
  • Promote public relations for the facility by serving Residents needs and wants promptly, pleasantly and efficiently.
  • Assist family members, if necessary, with the movement of Residents personal belongings.
  • Ensure all articles of personal clothing, for Residents, are marked properly, if the facility provides the service to them.
Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Hospitality Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in environmental services, preferably in healthcare, senior living, or hospitality settings.
  • Experience managing large teams and multi‑departmental operations.
  • Possess current or can obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card is required.
