Job Overview

Shift: Day – Full‑time (3/12‑hour shifts per week, 7:00am–7:30pm)

The Cardiac PCU‑3D is a 38‑bed telemetry monitored progressive care unit focused on cardiac patient populations. The unit operates under a Progress‑In‑Place model, keeping patients on the same unit while their acuity level changes.

Compensation: $10,000 sign‑on bonus. Night shift differential of 18% and a flat $3/hour weekend shift differential where applicable. Benefits include health, financial and security options along with other standard Banner Health benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; review patient history and physical with patient/family; review diagnostics and laboratory data; report abnormal results to the physician(s); complete assessment and reassessments according to patient need.
  • Formulate a plan of care including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input; develop realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with the patient/family; consider physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age‑specific and educational needs of the patient.
  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team; provide care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care in compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements; delegate and supervise other licensed nurses and personnel; ensure continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
  • Evaluate the patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching, revise the plan of care as needed; evaluate patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes; assess patient response and teaching effectiveness.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record; keep documentation legible, timely and in accordance with policy; accurately note physician orders.
  • Provide evidence‑based care; participate in research activities within clinical practice; engage in unit or facility shared leadership; participate in education, role development and orientation of facility personnel, patients, families and visitors; mentor and precept where appropriate.
  • Contribute to society by pursuing activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable and safe care; participate in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes; engage in professional organizations.
  • Supervise staff and workflow of the department as required.
  • Interact with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts; work collaboratively with community providers and agencies; provide spiritual support as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Experience in the clinical area for which the RN is applying is desired.
  • For Banner Registry and Travel roles: at least one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months; required for acute care, ICU, home health, skilled nursing, medical/surgical or similar areas.
  • For roles in behavioral health or physician practice: at least one year of experience as a registered nurse in a physician practice or acute care setting.
  • In a Home Health setting: must be able to operate a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license; active auto insurance coverage required.
  • Required fingerprint clearance cards and criminal history affidavit as specified by Banner regulations.
  • Maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of practice through annual validations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Professional certification preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
