Substitute Teacher Requirements

Thank you for your interest in serving as a substitute teacher in the Selinsgrove Area School District.

In order to meet requirements of employment as a substitute teacher, the following items are required, prior to Board approval:

* A copy of your Professional Teaching Certificate issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (please note that Inactive and Voluntary Inactive Pennsylvania certificate holders may work for a total of 90 days per school year. However, a Type 06 Day-to-Day Substitute Emergency Permit is required when the individual is working outside of their certification content area.)

* Results of a current (less than 1-year-old) TB test (stick test).

* Results of a current (less than 5-years-old) Request for Criminal History Record Information (Act 34 Clearance).

* Results of a current (less than 5-years-old) Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance form (Act 151).

* Results of a current (less than 5-years-old) Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check. The service code for PA School Districts is 1KG6XN.

* An Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form (Act 24).

* Employment Eligibility Verification form (I-9) which needs to be completed and returned along with copies of document verification.

* All substitutes must complete the Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse On-Line Training and provide the certificate of completion. The link for the free training is:

* Act 168 Form (Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release). As a hiring school entity, we must require any substitutes to submit this form to all current employer(s) and to former employer(s) that were school entities and/or where the applicant had direct contact with children. Applicant is requested to complete all of page two and the top portion of page three, sign and date, and return to the Selinsgrove Area School District for submission.
