Position: Early Childhood Instructional Assistant at Chaparral On Track (In-District Applicants Only)

Job Description

Due to the high volume of reference surveys being sent out and some issues we’ve encountered with the process, we have updated our application requirements. The application will now require three professional reference letters, all dated within the last 12 months.

Qualifications to Apply
  • Passing score on the Para Pro exam (457)
  • Minimum of 48 semester hours of college credit from a regionally accredited college or university, with at least 15 of those credits dedicated to language arts (3 hrs), mathematics (3 hrs), writing (3 hrs), and reading, writing, math readiness, or professional education (6 hrs)
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Follow the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs serving children from birth through eight years of age.
  • Assist the certified teacher in implementing an instructional program that meets the developmental needs of children (physical, cognitive, social, emotional) and includes health care, nutrition, safety, and multicultural sensitivity.
  • Assist the certified teacher during home visits and parent‑teacher conferences.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Promote Pre‑K education and assist in recruitment for Pre‑K programming.
  • Assist in planning and implementing parent meetings and events such as “Literacy Night,” “Family Math Night,” and “Science Night.”
  • Attend staff meetings, required trainings, and meetings.
  • Participate in home visits and parent‑teacher conferences.
  • Assist in planning and attending parent involvement events.
  • Support student recruitment and promotion of the Pre‑K program.
  • Communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Help prepare and organize instructional materials.
  • Supervise children in classroom and during off‑site activities.
  • Assist the teacher in supervising students on site or on field trip(s).
  • Work as a team member to facilitate the total operation of program goals and objectives.
  • Display desire and enthusiasm for working with young children.
  • Use time effectively; be punctual and maintain good attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrate strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
Education And/Or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Active enrollment in a degree plan toward an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, with completion of 6 credit hours in Fall and Spring semesters and submission of grades and schedules to the Program Director.

Bilingual Preferred.
