• Daily Substitute Rate: $25.00 per hour
• Long‑term Substitute Rate Range: $31.35‑$79.68 per hour (determined by salary placement)

• Washington State Sick Leave Law: One (1) hour of sick leave for every forty (40) hours worked.

• Manage classroom and provide instruction according to lesson plans prepared by the classroom teacher.
• Provide classroom environment that promotes active learning.
• Assist the teacher with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, lunchroom duty, recess, etc.
• Work with students to help reinforce learning objectives.
• Adhere to all Sunnyside Schools board policies and procedures.
• Use appropriate judgment to act in the best interest of students at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
• Observe and utilize reasonable and professional medical/safety precautions to include positioning children in a safe and secure manner.

• AA Degree or higher.
• Pass Washington State Patrol & FBI fingerprint background check.
• Upload unofficial college transcripts.

• Include three professional references.
• Must be 21 years of age or older (may consider 20 years of age for grades Kindergarten‑5th grade with Superintendent approval).
• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate (for substitute teachers).
• Valid Washington State Emergency Substitute Teacher / Substitute Certificate (for emergency substitutes).
• Valid photo identification.
• Social Security Card.
• Completed Employment Application.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
