Role Description

This full-time, on-site Labor and Delivery Nurse role is based at Astria Sunnyside Hospital in Sunnyside, WA. The nurse will provide comprehensive care to patients before, during, and after childbirth, including monitoring maternal and fetal status, administering medications, and assisting with labor and delivery procedures. Daily responsibilities include assessing patients, implementing care plans, collaborating with physicians and the care team, and responding to emergent situations in the birthing unit.

The role involves supporting patients and families through education, emotional support, and clear communication regarding birth plans and postpartum care. The nurse will also maintain accurate documentation, follow hospital policies and regulatory requirements, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong Labor and Delivery Nursing and Labor and Delivery skills, with experience in inpatient obstetric care.
  • Candidates should possess solid Nursing and Medicine knowledge to provide safe, evidence-based care across the perinatal continuum.
  • Candidates should possess excellent Critical Thinking skills to assess changing conditions, prioritize care, and respond to emergencies.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State (or eligibility to obtain) and current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications;
    Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months from hire date. STABLE within 6 months from hire date. Advanced EFM within 6 months from hire date.
  • At least one year experience in labor and delivery, mother-baby, or women’s health settings preferred, along with strong communication, teamwork, and patient education skills.
