2.25 per day, TBD

Benefits:
Washington State Sick Leave Law – one (1) hour of sick leave for every forty (40) hours worked.

This position safely operates school buses under all weather conditions and transports students and authorized persons on regular school routes and district‑approved trips.

• Drive school bus on scheduled routes and trips both within and outside the district boundaries.
• Operate and service all bus equipment and accessories (fire extinguishers, warning kits, chains, sanders, first aid kits).
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, including cleaning and sweeping.
• Maintain control of student passengers, enforce safety and behavior, report unsafe conditions, and consult with parents as needed.
• Fill fuels, complete training programs, and update driver certifications.
• Record and complete required forms, timesheets, trip requests, remedial, accident, and misconduct reports.
• Operate all hand and foot controls per Washington State School Bus Specification and state laws.
• Conduct operational and safety inspections of the bus and related equipment.

• Perform basic first aid and CPR as required.
• Execute any additional duties assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.

• Maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff, and the public.

Time spent driving, waiting inside or outside the bus, and exposure to chemicals, diesel fumes, grease, blood‑borne pathogens, inclement weather, and heavy traffic.

Education and Experience

• High‑school graduation or equivalent.
• Previous commercial or bus‑driving experience preferred.
• Successful completion of the Washington State Patrol (WSP) and FBI criminal background checks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of equipment operation.
• Familiarity with district routes and policies.
• Effective communication with all stakeholders.
• Physical ability to lift and carry impaired students.
• Excellent hearing and vision.

Licenses / Special Requirements

• Valid Washington State driver’s license with bus driver endorsements.
• 21 years of age or older.
• Social Security card.
• WSP/FBI fingerprint background clearance.
• Completed medical certificate authorizing bus operation.
• Driving abstract from Department of Licensing.
• Training in first aid, CPR, and mandatory district courses.
• Complete School Bus Driver Annual Disclosure Form.

• High school or trade school degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.

Full‑time, $28.93 per hour.
