Role is remote or hybrid for locations in Warren, MI;
Sunnyvale, CA;
Mountain View, CA. Remote candidates are considered. If within 50 miles of a GM hub (San Francisco Bay Area, CA or Warren, MI), expected to report to office three times per week or as directed by manager. If outside 50‑mile radius, still may apply.
Designer for GM’s dealer and customer‑facing digital experiences supporting the full vehicle lifecycle from order tracking and delivery scheduling to digital onboarding and early ownership. Hands‑on product design focusing on vehicle sales, inventory management, and customer interactions across dealer tools and customer platforms.
Responsibilities- Design dealer‑facing digital products including inventory management, sales tools, reporting dashboards, and onboarding workflows.
- Enable vehicle order status tracking, delivery scheduling, digital onboarding, and early‑ownership support.
- Translate complex dealer workflows into clear, intuitive interfaces.
- Collaborate with Research, Product, Engineering, and Design Systems teams to ensure feasible, scalable designs aligned to design systems.
- Create high‑fidelity prototypes, wireframes, and interaction models that communicate intent and enable rapid iteration.
- Advocate for consistency, accessibility, and usability across all dealer tools and customer interfaces.
- Mentor and collaborate with other designers to raise design quality and influence practices.
- Support business and product teams in prioritizing design solutions based on business impact and dealer needs.
- Customers can confidently track, receive, and onboard into their vehicle with minimal friction.
- Early‑ownership experiences drive feature adoption, satisfaction and long‑term engagement.
- Dealer tools feel cohesive, efficient, and aligned with customer‑facing experiences to enable sales and inventory tracking.
- A design team producing reference quality work that raises the bar across GM.
- Strong cross‑functional alignment with design recognized as a driver of product strategy and outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience designing remarkable products where craft, interaction, language and structure shape experience.
- Proven ability to design for complex digital products and shape direction in ambiguous spaces.
- 5‑7+ years of product design experience with a portfolio demonstrating high‑fidelity work and clear product impact.
- Exceptional craft, taste, and judgment across interaction, content, and system design.
- Track record of setting quality standards or creating design exemplars adopted across teams.
- Proficiency in Figma and excellent communication and collaboration skills, influencing senior partners.
- Ability to operate as a design authority without direct ownership, influencing through craft and clarity.
- 5+ years of experience in automotive industry, design agencies, or technology companies shaping hardware and software experiences.
- Experience advancing consistency of design systems across products and platforms.
- Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design standards, with a track record of meeting or exceeding best practices.
Base compensation range: $125,200 – $192,700. Additional bonus potential depends on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
