Staff Visual Designer, Google Chat UX Team

Our Visual Designers weave space, typography, color, and iconography to help people successfully navigate our products, ensuring they are beautiful and accessible. You will join our multi-disciplinary UX team, collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, to leverage user insights and create industry-leading products.
As a Staff Visual Designer on the Google Chat UX team, you will influence the future of real-time communication in a highly strategic and impactful role. You will oversee visual design outcomes for both established programs and emerging Google Chat initiatives, steering the visual strategy and designing high-priority features across Web, Android, and iOS. You will act as a subject-matter expert in UI design, visual craft, and systems thinking.
You thrive in ambiguous environments, establishing visual languages where no precedent exists and aligning cross-functional leaders around a cohesive, premium aesthetic.
In this role, you will advocate the visual design strategy for new features, manage design system standards, and act as a driving force for design excellence throughout the Google Workspace product area.
Responsibilities:
- Influence stakeholders across functions to gain support for design strategies.
- Drive the development of innovative design solutions to user, product, and business problems.
- Drive a holistic design process, design system, or design language across teams or products.
- Drive design solutions based on user insights, business needs, and industry trends that further business outcomes.
- Provide direction to UX designers in creating design concepts for product ideation or user research/testing.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $188000 - $274000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits.
