Elementary School Teacher

Job Goal:
To provide each student with a program that will enable him or her to reach his/her fullest academic potential.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Primarily responsible for meeting curriculum requirements adopted by the Board of Education.
• Provides planned learning experiences in order to motivate pupils and best utilize the available time for instruction.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports and communicates with parents regarding their child's progress.
• Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Provides a functional and attractive environment in the classroom.
• Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
• Performs basic attendance accounting and business services as required.
• Participates cooperatively in the system of evaluation as stated in the district's guidelines.
• Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees as agreed upon.
• Plans and coordinates the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals as appropriate.
• Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
• Develops current lesson plans (daily or weekly) and instructional materials that provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Selects, and requisitions, instructional aids, and instructional supplies and assists in developing inventory records within guidelines developed by the district.
• Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.

Required Credentials:
Valid Multiple Subject California Teaching Credential and English Learner Authorization.
