Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
- Education/Certification
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- One of the following additional qualifications outlined in Texas Education Code § 29.167(b):
- Associate or bachelor degree in early childhood education or related field
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or another early childhood education credential approved by the Texas Education Agency
- Certification offered through a training center accredited by Association Montessori Internationale or through the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education
- At least eight years' experience teaching in a nationally accredited child care program or a Texas Rising Star Program
- Ability to educate with age-appropriate language and teaching methods
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience: Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience.
Major Responsibilities and DutiesSupervisory Responsibilities: Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).

Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment;
Posture:
Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting;

Frequent walking;
Lifting:
Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment;
Environment:
Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise;
Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours.
