Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join the Advanced Engineering team. This team is responsible for designing novel equipment used to manufacture medical devices and implementing that equipment into production.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing and configuring Cognex vision systems, developing automated equipment, managing projects, and writing equipment qualification documentation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to design innovative equipment while contributing to life-saving medical products.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design and development of vision systems for component inspection during production.
- Design vision systems and electro-mechanical fixtures using Solid Works.
- Develop and manage project plans for automated equipment solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to develop equipment.
- Design, assemble, and test prototypes.
- Prepare equipment drawings and documentation.
- Create and execute equipment qualification protocols.
- Develop design specifications and acceptance testing protocols.
- Implement robust equipment and processes capable of maintaining high quality standards.
- Execute equipment qualification of new systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing equipment design, build, and commissioning.
- Experience and familiarity with Cognex vision systems.
- Strong proficiency in Solid Works (models and fabrication drawings of assemblies and machined components).
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), especially for machined components.
- Experience specifying tolerances and performing tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Experience with fasteners, 3D printing, and prototype assembly.
- Experience leading cross-functional project teams.
- Strong project management skills.
- Experience testing equipment and writing equipment documentation (acceptance protocols, maintenance procedures, qualification protocols).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the medical device industry or other regulated industries.
- Experience designing electrical control systems.
- Experience specifying electrical components.
- Experience designing mechanical layouts for electromechanical control systems.
