Mechanical Engineer, Engineering Design & Technologists
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work directly with engineers in the Mechanical Engineering Team in which your project outcomes will influence the LTA mission to revitalize and revolutionize next-generation rigid airships. The preferred candidate is an experienced student who exhibits abilities in project ownership and creative problem solving while learning from feedback in a rapidly changing research and development engineering environment.
In addition to a strong technical ability, we are looking for positivity in challenging circumstances, an eagerness to collaborate, and a supportive determination toward LTA Vision and Guiding Principals.
- Define and develop mechanical solutions to complex engineering scenarios using formulae, testing, and prototyping starting from concept through production and integration.
- Become intimately familiar with the system or subsystem being worked on
- Communicate project progress to a diverse and varying audience utilizing collaborative messaging and presentation strategies.
- Provide fixture, component, assembly, and system documentation including but not limited to: CAD models, drawings, requirements, specifications, and procedures.
- Oversee, troubleshoot, and assist in the prototyping, manufacturing, and validation of engineered fixtures, components, assemblies, and systems while prioritizing outcomes.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Demonstrated proficiency using 3D CAD modeling and drawing software to design and document both simple and complex parts, assemblies, and drawings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in an engineering environment.
- A passion for building things!
- Solidworks experience.
- Experience working within an iterative or collaborative engineering design process.
- Ability to create designs that are manufacturable (DFM / DFA / DFX).
- Two-dimensional and three-dimensional rapid prototyping exposure.
- Ability to operate basic manual and power hand tools.

$28 - $33 an hour
