Our client, an innovative leader in automotive and robotics technology, is seeking a dedicated Engineering Test Technician to join their dynamic R&D headquarters team. As an Engineering Test Technician, you will be part of the Powertrain Dyno Lab supporting engineering, testing, and validation efforts. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving, which will align successfully within the organization.
Job Title:Engineering Test Technician
Location:Sunnyvale, California
Pay Range:$30-$40/hr DOE plus OT, benefits Direct Hire
What's the Job?- Assemble, install, and configure electric drive units and motors for dynamometer testing
- Perform mechanical assembly, torque procedures, and measurement tasks with precision
- Support electrical connections, wiring, sensors, and high‑voltage operations (training provided)
- Download firmware builds, troubleshoot system errors, and respond to technical issues
- Maintain rigorous quality, safety, and documentation standards in a fast‑paced R&D environment
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with experience in drive units, rotating machinery, or EV systems OR have worked for several years in any R&D engineering lab with electro‑mechanical products (ideally motors) doing R&D testing, anticipating errors and troubleshooting them. Heavy work with prototype products
- Comfort working around high‑voltage equipment (H. V certification provided)
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and follow structured procedures
- Proficiency with hand tools such as torque wrenches, calipers, and measurement equipment
- Basic software literacy including firmware loading, understanding file types, and navigating test interfaces
